Poems about age

The Age of Amazon

Soon Sears will be history
J. C. Penney is all but spent.
Even mighty Hudson Bay
Sells their building and pays rent.

Here at Macy's flagship store
Friday was black indeed.
They couldn't process payments
At close to normal speed.

Jeff Bezos is a billionaire.
Brown boxes flood the mail
Clicks beat Bricks is the news at six
Is it lights out for retail?

He started out by selling books;
Lost cash on every sale.
Barnes and Noble bled a ghostly white.
His competitors turned tail.

Competition is the rule
All change comes through disruption.
As catalogs give way to clicks
Some stores need extreme unction.

age,  amazon.

I consider my age
To be so much older
Than my 13th year
My Sweet 16
The date of my birth
Means nothing to me
I don't consider my life
To be counted by the days I lived
I see it in the people I've met
And the horrors I've seen
I'm a thousand years old
But nobody sees
That I count my years
In apologies
I'll be so much older
Than my Sweet 16
The date of my birth
Means nothing to me

Old Age

I've been away from home so long.
I remember people as they were.
I speak to them quite often.
It seems the same.
When I gaze at them now
I don't recognize them anymore.
I still see them as they were.
I'd like to keep it that way.
The future's not sure.
I ask anyway.
Can I keep it that way?

The Age of the Warrior Cop

Let em' rise up
Tread on anything we thought we had left
Militarize for petty local crimes
As the forces don't stay back
With the people screaming in anger
At your shallow campaigns
Of violence and killing of innocents

How many more will it take?
Before the tear gas canisters
And rubber bullets have taken us all
Left us weak and weary
How many more will it take?
Before my people begin to realize
Big Brother is already upon us

We live in the new age
The age of big government
The age of government regulation
The age of treading on We The People
The age of the warrior cop

age,  cop,  warrior.

New age

Testicular torsion,
I'll have another portion,
Of chips,
I hope they come with,
Fresh mesh,
Enough said

Above my age

Let us look like the Native Indian

Not at the physical
But at the real

The spirit
Not the form

The mind
Not the body

Let's look out ourselves
Who we are
What we do
How we are seen
And how we see

Let's look at me
What do I see?

I am strong, wise,
Smart, brazen, not
Fifteen but inside
Much older, a man
With a long flowing

But that is my eye
My Indian eye

Let's look at me
What do you see?

Is This What Old Age Is Talking About

Is this what old age
Is talking about
And why am I the last
To find all of this out
That my due North
Is heading straight South
With all of my hair
And most my teeth falling out

For me gradually
Losing my sight
Saving me from
What I'd rather not find
The wrinkles to
My drooping eyes
As the younger me
Dawn's an old age disguise

I seem to wheeze
More now than I breath
Check out my pants
Each time that I sneeze
When did my thoughts
Pack up and leave
Taking with them
My precious memory

Is this what old age
Is talking about
And why am I the last
To find all of this out
I used to be king
But somehow lost that crown
The only other thing...

Now what was I talking about?

age,  talking.

Age of reason

I want to come heavy
I want the weight of my world to land blissful
I want the dreams that I hold dear
To be caught between her brow
Her forehead

And age
We leave the age of reason
This world we know is growing old
I wasn't young

I wasn't perfect

I want to come perfect
I want the ending to be the beginning
I want the feeling that I give
To be stuck upon her brow
Her face

Her mind
Where its never the age of reason
And everything has its excuses
I wasn't young

I wasn't young

age,  reason.
