Poems about dawn

Dawn song

The birds are awake before the sun
They warble and tweet
Just like birds should
The sun is groggy and dull
She can't quite make it above the mountain range
So the birds grow louder
Their calls are creative and neat
And slowly
The grey light becomes blue
And then bright
And the mist lifts off the hills
And the birds find their way home

dawn,  song.

Misty words billow in the cold
Pluming from their mouths
Quiet swearing and first fag coughing
They walk close to hedgerows
Kicking the dew from the grass
As birds squabble over breakfast
And mushrooms are still socialising
They whistle the dogs to heel
All panting and wagging tails
Stirring the dawn damp air
For happy is the early dog
In these sumptuous fields

Now the business of dawn begins
Low sharp commands are uttered
Bringing the younger bounding learners
To a proper sense of purpose
And that high-toned cross breed
The sleek and swift lurcher
Is eternally proud and primed
This long-sprint racer
Takes inevitable chase
Without sentiment or concious cruelty
An ancient craft is practised here
With the dogs at dawn

The Dawn in My Arms

The morning light flickers through and I,
I hold the dawn in my arms.
And I hear the sweet soft breeze of breath,
And here we have no fear of harm.

But we have learned that once we rise,
There is much to fear.
For I have broken many promises,
And I have cut you deep my dear.

arms,  dawn.

He waited for her once,
Twice if you count the flowers.
He hid behind them and watched her limbs move
Naked under the patches of dawn's light.
She drew out colors with the point of her toe
Wrote sonatas with the curve of her arm
Naked she dances in the early morn
Not the harsh light of day
Or the cold night of winter.
She dances in the hours between,
He loves her.
Dawn! He cries out to her finally
Daises cast like the roles of a play
Aside, no longer do they sway in her dance.
She turns to meet him
Eyes wide and fresh budding green,
Skin light like the moon that's fallen.
Her laugh was soft,
She stood more naked than he had ever seen,
He loves her.
She stepped over the stones to take his hand,
Led him out under the coming day
He heard the music then,
True and silver in his ear.
Their steps fell together endlessly,
She loves him.

Dawn dance!

Dawn n cold
Little peg n pebbles swimming
Slow dance
Over a cup of night dreams

dance,  dawn.

Ambleside at Dawn

Modest fingers of a gentle morning
Slide smoothly back the covers of last night.

Growing, glowing shafts thereafter work mottled warmth
To wall from window, disclosing the lay of my only home.

As I move in the chill, warm-scented air of her kitchen
Engagements of branch and light undulate in the old glazen aperture.

My somnolent form has become voyeur.
Eastward, through time-warped glass and sleep-smeared eyes,

Wizened oaken arms up-stretch, dutifully delivering
Bales of crowning foliage from the pregnant morning fog.

At dawn
I ask the moon
To breathe into me
And set my mind free.
Then the stars
Shine in my heart

Waves of thoughts
Create storms
But I stay very still
Why worry?
I am the ocean.
Silence is my rendezvous.

The life of hope
The journey of dream
And to both we are bound
For smooth flow of the stream
