Poems about fear

№ 970828

Fear is a funny thing
Curled up in my gut
Like it lives there
Like a knife
It traces its claws along my spin
Reaching up, up, up
Brushing past my lungs
To lock its long talons
Around my frantic, fluttering heart

Fear is a funny thing
Sneaking up on me
Without being provoked
Like a trap
Snaking its way between my ribs
Pulling tighter, tighter, tighter
Till i'm gasping for breath
On my knees in the dust
Eyes clouded by panic and darkness

Fear is a funny thing
Purposeless and naive
Throwing useless tantrums
Like a child
Beating against my shoulder blades
I feel it pulsing, pulsing, pulsing
Rhythmic and relentless
Picking my seams apart and
Unraveling me from the inside

Why is it I fear?

I fear death for reasons that are many and unknown to me,
I fear the oblivion, like many,
I fear the darkness, like some,
I fear the reality that I won't be able to contemplate anymore.
I won't be able to acknowledge the oblivion,
Or the darkness.
"But what if you are loved by many and remembered fondly? "
Then rather selfishly I will not care
As I cannot care when I cannot contemplate.

Fear Is No Kid

I'm a grown man
Who is still sleeping with the lights on
Because fear has no age
And it just grows within me
The more I know the more I fear
Because that blanket can only keep out so many monsters
But what do you do
When the monster is yourself
Sleeping with you
That blanket is just a kiddy toy
And fear is no kid

fear,  kid.

How am I supposed to tell you
About my days
And be honest with you
When I constantly fear losing you?
People leave each other in hell
And I need to know you won't
Let go of my hand
Even if the demons are holding me as well.
I need to know you will love me
Even if I can't believe in myself,
And I need you to feel close
Even though you are far away.

The Living Fear

Explain it to me.
Help me understand the fear that lies within me.
Why I suddenly feel that my candle of life,
Is quickly burning away at both ends of the stick.

The fear, the fear.
It continues to grow.
From the seeds of paranoia that I personally sow.
Is it all in my head, or is the danger really there?
None the less, the uncertainty is what I cannot bear.

Every cigarette I've had.
Every time my throat aches.
There is no medication for regrets and mistakes.
Ignoring the warnings does not make them untrue.
Being ignorant can only lead to the downfall of you.

Diabetes or Cancer?
Malignant or Benign?
Everyone tells me that I'm, *probably fine.
But they don't understand that the battle inside,
Is convincing myself that it's all in my head.

It's nothing. It's nothing.
Miguel, you're okay.
These are the mantras that I repeat every day.
To myself in my head, or out loud when alone.
Hoping that one day my health will atone.

fear,  living.

Forlorn floridians fear

At some point in time
You have to stop

Stop being sad
And as blue as the tears you cry

Because the icecaps are melting
And the seawaters are rising
And every tear you shed
Is drowning us

None of us can stay afloat
In weeping waters

Miss with chastity fear

I am no longer rusty
Tunic driven like a alabaster skeleton through tongues of wine
Hearts of misshaped happiness breathing beneath my tongue
Aqua marine
Danger zones between close mouths and breath
Long locks of dark brown trail against your back
Like water paint fluid on your paper like skin
Hold me here beautiful forever
I will rest in between your palms
As you open them to gather water from the
River of our sacred dreams
I will lay there like a small fairy
For you
At ease

I understand the viscousness the inexplicable vitality
With a woman next to a woman
I can teach you how to be comfortable with me
We might become black at times

We might burn
Reminents built
Torn and ashy

But here there is a beauty
A burgundy understanding of similar nature
Rich with cause
Suitable by death

Night bound by the man who believed he was clever
Driven insanity
Crude hearts gestures
Leave that castle
Be my vampire
Join my tower

Touch the sent of the wicker
And dive into this feminine power
I set hot trembling
Tender sighs let out
Every hour

I will hunt those wild beasts within your breast
Hold your hand and kiss your chest
Stitch myself to your ivory neck
Seek you
Until my hearts a wreck

chastity,  fear.

Creeping in
Creeping out
Pounding hard against the skull
Building up
Crying out
Rising higher until full
Creeping in
Creeping out
Seeping in
Can't get out
Fighting hard
Standing strong
Won't be long
Until you win
Creeping out
