Poems about left

Left Behind

Too much

Loved ones

Plucked from life
Like lily or rose

Gone in an instant
Petals of memories strewn
As we look back
On life's path

All is surreal

In those times
Let us turn
To those
Not yet chosen
For death's bouquet

Let us strengthen each other
Struggle together
To find
A core of peace
Deep inside

May we love more profoundly
Accept life more fully
Be more conscious of those

Perhaps even say
The things we wish
We had

To those who left.

You Left

I think I held on too tight.
Even now that you're gone,
I can't loosen my grip.
I miss you,
And I don't think
I'll ever be the same again.

He Left His Heart In Helmand Province

He was once
A happy-go-lucky guy,
Had a huge smile that
Stretched the universe,
Forever he embraced
Whatever came his way
But somewhere
Something changed.

Some say
He left his heart
In Helmand province,
& when I saw him last week,
He looked seriously tweaked
With that thousand yard stare.
It convinced me.

heart,  left,  province.

I am having conversations with you
Imagining you are still here
Laying in bed thinking
Maybe I am just crazy
Crazy in love with you

The Marks Left By Winter

In the end you will not remember summer coming.
Still she will appear in a May breeze
As if you asked her to, as if she could save you.
Though you know all too well how this story ends.

She asked about the scars winter left,
Wanting to place together a story to makes sense
Of the coldness that still has not been warmed by her winds.
Yet some secrets aren't meant to escape the hearth.

You will not know how to love them both,
So you will choose winter again, at least the cold doesn't leave.
And summer will not understand, she will hate you for this,
And because you are a fool you will let her.

left,  marks,  winter.

When you left....

I thought of my desolate air fresheners, of all shapes, sizes and scents.

Pick the little one shaped and scented like a rose.
The sweet, cloying smell that irks your sensitive nose.
Nobody knows how it happened, but
Your breakfast goes (out).

Pick the green tree, the one that smells like pine.
Maybe you should wash it down with some wine.
The sharp scent reminds you of grandma's house, and suddenly you taste brine on your face.

Maybe you should take the one shaped like a lemon, with a whiff of zing.
Suddenly I remember how you didn't even blink
With your acidic words when you said you were leaving.

Nothing seems to be able to mask the sad, musty smell of loneliness;
But maybe with a gentle caress... ?

I shall lock away what's left of me

I shall lock away what's left of me
Yes! even I can grow tired
You know I have no name in this
Still I throw my hands unto the fire

Still I regret even speaking this
I am rotting- loathing from inside
So you will go ahead with yours
I will see whats left of mine

I shall lock away what's left of me
Leave you free to go
I washed your feet, you wash your hands
And I am left alone-

left,  lock.

I Left the House and Forgot Nothing

The TV told me it was over,
So our troops were coming home to read books and meet their babies.
The TV said,
"The guns are gone, the kids are safe,
The girls and women, they're safe, too
And no one's bleeding alone anymore. "

I pulled up to your house and you said I love you
And we took a train to the mountains.

On top of every curve I heard you drawing plans on the window
Of all the things we'd do
And where should we go?

And whenever we got there, we danced.

forgot,  house,  left.
