Formally arranged Cloyingly sweet Flowers of summer Greenhouses Candles lit Furniture gleaming To honour the guest Resplendent In Sunday best Lying cold and still In satin lined luxury Head On a comfortable pillow Tie and lips Properly knotted Eyes closed With glasses perched On the bridge of his Powdered nose The veneer of eternal good health Courtesy of Pots and brushes of Paints and powders Waiting for friends to arrive Speaking in hushed voices Careful of disturbing His slumber He was a good man If there's anything i can do... They filter in They filter out Tears love and platitudes In equal measure Quiet music Devoid of life And meaning Insipid tunes Of eternal rest It's a blessing really Did he suffer The blues of Brahams Chimes sound to signal Each new arrival Hugs and air kisses Solemn handshakes Sympathetic smiles Until there are none She is left alone with him Looking down A tear Falls on his face A quick touch up required Before he rests in perfect quiet But for the ticking of his watch
The thought of my thoughts So perverse and arise Gave heed to my needs So deceiving and contrived
To you, the one Whom sat there so silent My thoughts of you were perfect So simple, so violent
Now you are here Under my blade, my render Screaming for your loved ones Your husband, your mother
But what will you scream When no sound can be heard I think it will be nothing Not one syllable, nor word
You cough and gasp As I watch from above You cry and squirm As a pool forms of your blood
I watch you fade As your eyes drain of life I sit here in peace Slowly cleaning my knife
peace.

Enter in Peace, Exit in Peace
It's so easy to lose faith in God When the men and women who Preach so vehemently Stab knives into your heart, Call you less than worthy.
What was it that made me So wrong? So less than them? Was it my Jewishness, My heritage, My still learning even from them?
What I learned was they can Hate, wound, laugh at, destroy, Throw a human away.
Why? Because I am not famous enough? Talented enough? Well known enough?
What does Christ think looking down? Should I instantly forgive? Even though it makes me feel like dying? Does Christ instantly forgive them? Even though they twisted me around So tightly I didn't have time to learn fast enough? Will they do it again to someone else? Would they do it again to me if I gave them the chance?
Why did they even want to walk through my door??? What did they think they would find here? Why did they get so angry when they didn't get what they needed? Why didn't they just go in peace?
O Lord, please set my bound heart free Let not this world my prison be Where fear and shame would pull me down To suffocate and cause me to drown
'Stead loose my soul that it may soar Heavy, fettered, chained no more So You can lead me to the hills Away from where "perfection" kills
In You alone my worth is found What joy immense, this truth profound To know I'm precious in Your sight My strength, my hope, my life's delight
Surrendered now to Your control 'Tis love which heals my wounded soul Convinced that I can trust Your heart Toward me, to You my cares I impart
And selfish may I no more be But lend me eyes that I might see The wounds which other souls still have To give to them Your healing salve
That You might take their tender pain And turn it to eternal gain So suffering may not wasted be But used to set our cold hearts free
Then we who in triumphant praise More closely on Your face may gaze Beholding all Your beauty vast Held tight to You, content at last!
peace.

A deep peace
The wind brings strange whispers across the sea From a distant shore, lapping on our beach Half song half speech with a deep silence A deep peace to accept, and no need to question.
Give me a piece A peace to your heart, Give me a place So that our love Can start. Give me a piece A piece of your mind, Give me your peace And leave your worries behind.
Give me your hand, And I'll show you the world, Up from above, and below the sand, Give me your feet And I'll not lead you astray, Give me you, So we can go on our way.
Give me a piece Of the peace you hold dear, Give me something, Anything, Let's start a friendship right here.
And so our friendship Will bloom like flowers In the spring, It'll come like the weather, With all the sun and rain, And the wind that sings.
Give me a piece of your peace My love, And I'll show you what heaven Is really made of.
It's not made out of gold, Or silvery things, It's not even worth, Its worth in diamond Rings.
It's made out of love, And pieces of peace, It's the whispers of the wind That plays in the trees.
It's the sweet ringing laughter When you laugh in my ear, It's when I hear you, Your sweet voice my dear.
A piece of peace, Is all that I need, Because that's all it takes, Is one little seed.
So give me a piece of your peace My friend, And I'll stand by it Never to End.
Although it's peace That we seek We find ourselves Up the creek Viewing a picture That's bleak From the folly of man And his long losing streak
It seems the way Of our times Fighting wars That are crimes Killing kids In their primes Robbing them Of lifetimes
Religion and greed Continue to shell Leaving death behind In the wake of shrapnel Not just the soldiers But civilians as well Yes it does seem We've made our own living hell
Why can't we end this Why won't we cease From these men who seek power Is there no release Death and heartache Continue on the increase My heart cries out Are there no men of peace
