Garden Peas.

Come along with me
Lets look into the life
Of the common garden pea
Maybe you like them
Maybe you do not
But these are my words to
The common garden pea
From me to them
We have all seen them
And had to work out how we eat them
Better stuck in mash potato
Than balanced on the knife or fork
Kids just distribute them so neatly
On the table and the floor
Then hold up there plate
And ask for some more
But have you tried to grow them?
If not come on a journey with me
Plant some peas in the soil
Water them liberally
Then let the season warm the earth
After about 14 days or so
You will see little green shoots
Place some sticks in
For the peas
Likes something to hold on
Just like you and me
For the pea has a hard life
As the season moves on
The pea holds out little tendon
That grip on the sticks
Then the snails move in
Danger will robertson
For in one night
The snail can murder all of these
The peas that do survive
Suddenly come alive
Shooting up like rockets
Then after the flowers form
All white in the sun
The pods form
And in them form the peas
Those sweet nuggets
We love called garden peas

Wasabi Peas and Wynton Marsalis

Last night I went to a jazz concert
And I bought an eight dollar jar of cocktail nuts
During intermission
From which I only ate
The few wasabi peas I managed to pick out
In the dim of the theater.
I thought about you
And then my thoughts were interrupted
By trumpets and saxophones,
And I wished it could always be that easy.

Garden Peas

Growing sustenance,
In summer, spring gardens,
Grown tomatoes and onions,
Garden peas,
Plants reaching for the sun,
Stretching hands of leaves,
To the skyline,
All vying for a sight of sunlight.

Peas

I regret putting down my sheild,
But I won't regret the happiness
That threw it to the ground.

Those Damn Peas ....

Have you worked a crowder pea field in July
As the Georgia sun fries
When humidity sits you down every half hour,
Where the weather deals great power
Showers are few and far between
Dirt fills every pocket of your blue jeans
Sweat blinds
The day seems to grind
Humor and inspiration are hard to find
Picking peas by moonlight
Mosquitoes feasting by lamplight
Filling bushel baskets by day
If the good Lord be willing, please call the paper wasp away*...

Processed peas

If this Winter lingers just a little longer and the nights are drawn in tight about my shoulders, will you hold me just a little closer, take the candle and with flames of passion,
Fashion me a blanket and snuggle under to see the winter disappear, and if the Summer wakes us with a nudge and winks a light into my eye,
Will you be shy,
Shall we wander down the avenue, just me and you and several hundred pigeons looking for a place to eat, breakfast and the heat of toast upon our lips,
If this Winter seems too long, will this song we sing bring unto us the joys of Summer?
On the bus?
The city dwells and in all seasons, well it would,
Wouldn't it?

Mushy Peas

Minty green and mean,
Mushy pea clean.
Add to the plate,
Of your best mate.
Mushy peas and chips,
Raised to the lips.
Believe me when I say,
A sensation so intense,
Will leave you, in suspense.
Mushy peas
Minty green, yet supreme.

Cheese And Peas

Jesus looked just like me
Both made of cheese and peas
And that time he got nailed to that tree
I was eating cheese and peas

And you, God girl of sweeter glories
Don't you dare look away from me
For we are the same as was
Made of cheese and peas

I would not eat you
As you would not eat me
For we are just the war wanting
Made of glory, cheese and peas

Let me turn the earth to dust
For in god they do trust
Better give parliament to me
Sweaty of cheese and peas
