Spring Rain

Today the rain is falling,
It looks so dark and bad.
For today the clouds are calling.

I think that God is bawling
It really is quiet sad
Today the rain is falling

Lighting outside is striking
Nature seems real mad
For today the clouds are calling

It couldn't be more boring
Stuck inside in bed
Today the rain is falling.

The birds have stopped their chriping
I should probably add
For today the clouds are calling

So as I sit here watching
It isn't a new fad
Today the rain is falling

rain,  spring.

Leftover Tears From Purple Rain

I didn't really want too. . .
I didn't want to go there. . .
I didn't want to test it
You see I still have
All of my fears

Still I couldn't help it. . .
I hit the button play. . .
And as the music started
Please God I prayed

The room turned to purple
As Prince began to play
I looked back upon the memories
Of a love I held once upon that day

As the purple rain fell in torrents
My purple tears began to fall
Now all I have to hold on to
Is the music between these walls

"I didn't want to hurt you
I didn't want to cause you any pain"

And as the tears turned into rivers
They overflow with purple pain

leftover,  purple,  rain,  tears.

Rain came today
Pounding on my house
Running down my street
Like a manic
Going wild
Darkness everywhere
Seemed like it would never leave
Changing my mood into the blues
Which doesn't take much
My face changes deep inside
Every mood

Especially when the rain comes to visit
All is damp and cold
Leaving a chill through my bones
Rain are the tears from the sky
Where the earth and sky meet
In tears flowing through the grass

Bringing a coldness
Wet and damp
Trying to cleanse the earth of all the pollution.

Lovers In The Rain

Rain tap tapping
Upon the pink spotted umbrella
Beneath which we stand
On this dreary day.
The rain creates a melody
Of translucent color,
Similar to your whispering
Voice in the nighttime.

Sharing the umbrella, we stand
Closer to each other than normal,
Almost huddled together, keeping
Each other warm.
Step, tap. Just a little closer you
Step over to me, and smile.
That idiotic smile of yours.
It makes me go wild.

And I kiss you, two lovers in the rain.

lovers,  rain.

I think Rain is the weary humanitarian.
She's the voice of reason, drowning the world in throbbing anger with watercolours, smudging pavement and hesitant minds. Not tears, or sympathy, she's yelling for us in pristine drops of impatience.
Wake up! What are you doing?!
She whispers so loud, she'll tear us apart, ground swollen with her heartfelt anger. She hates us, really. She'll erase us away, no laugh on her lips. Just the rat-a-tat of old typewriter keys and maleficent moisture.

Rain (Haiku)

Drip, drop, drip, drop, drip
Rain likes to repeat itself
Drip, drop and so forth.

haiku,  rain.

Starting to Rain Again

Paul sang of the winding road
That Papa said aint got no rules.
But there's a million miles out there of highway
Always begging my soul to move.

Sitting still at the speed of light
Counting seconds and I'm watching minutes.
It seems as you move down along the bank
It's all in how you spin it.

Fluid motion like a raging stream
Got a heart like a rolling stone.
That never passes on that next big bend
And just rests them bones at home.

So as the moments well they fly right by
You never see what the gardner grows.
Long before the leaves they turn to brown
And the sky begins to snow...

Don't know where I'm going,
I only know where I been.
I can't find the end of the rainbow
And it's starting to rain again.

rain,  starting.
