Let the light inside you shine bright,
Illuminating the darkness outside -
Which would otherwise consume you raw

Rain or Shine

They said that the forecast is for rain,
And that I should carry an umbrella.
I should be prepared for the strongest of storms,
Keeping my body completely safe and dry.
I used to always carry my umbrella,
Rain or shine I kept it close.
I would travel one hundred miles just to stay dry,
Perhaps to the desert, farthest away from the sorrows of the rain.
But then I realized the rays of the sun,
Beating deep and painful on my bare skin.
With each lovely beam comes the silent burning of flesh.
Did I forget that my umbrella could protect me from the sun's rays?
And thats when I realized, I could handle anything.

rain,  shine.

You make me shine on outside
Yet inside I still
Feel yucky

Let Your Eyes Shine Bright, From this New Insight

When the time comes for wonder and delight,
Open your vacant eyes, from yesterday,
Take a deep breath, do not strain, do not fright.

Seeing is believing, even in light,
Let your mind open to a fresh new day,
Let your eyes shine bright, from this new insight.

Do not cry, or feel like you are dead-weight,
You are strong, they will move out of your way,
Take deep breaths, do not fight, you are alright.

You will be just right, body heals at night,
Do not blame events on some other day,
Let eyes shine bright, and glow in the skylight.

No where to run, no place to hide, insight
Cover eyes and ears, this is not horseplay,
Days darkest hour is not always at night

You, my fighter, are wound up very tight,
Stay calm and relax, do not shy away,
Take a deep breath, do not strain, do not fright,
Let your eyes shine bright, from this new insight.

bright,  eyes,  insight,  shine.

Shoe Shine Box

In the cupboard there is a box
That used to belong to Dad
He showed me it's secrets
When I was just a lad

It was full of polish
In brightly coloured tins
With a deep smell of wax
When you opened up the lid

To keep the leather healthy
And really looking good
You need to polish regularly
This I soon understood

One brush to put it on
Another to polish to a shine
Keep the colours separate
And they will always look fine

I can see my father sitting
On his three legged stool
With his little box of polishes
He used before I went to school

Now father and stool
Have long since gone
But the lessons I learned
Were simply second to none

box,  shine,  shoe.

Shine diamond shine

I want to be better than good,
Exceptional to the highest exponential,
Still a diamond in the rough,
I got potential,
Obstacles and struggles are part of life but if I never give up,
Essentially are inconsequential,
Even if it rains cats and dogs,
A light shower,
Or perhaps terrential,
Not to downplay a downpour,
But life is a roller coaster,
With more ups and downs,
Than the Dow Jones,
Never give up in the face of adversity,
Invested in the future,
I'm in it to win,
Sometimes struggle happens,
And failure too,
But if you can learn from your mistakes and dream it,
One day you'll go far kid,
Believe it then achieve it.

diamond,  shine.

I try to shine brightly,
Even when I'm blue,
Cause I am determined,
I've made it my aim,
To make them all smile,
To conceal all my shame.

This ramble scramble
As our front yard
Fill it full of
Kentucky wild onions
Strewn through
Grass buds
And funky mushrooms
Snow's all gone
Puddles dry
For now
Freckle me up
Pretty please
Serious sunshine
Into this
Winter wearied
