Waiting For The Miracle

(co-written by Sharon Robinson)
Baby, I've been waiting,
I've been waiting night and day.
I didn't see the time,
I waited half my life away.
There were lots of invitations
And I know you sent me some,
But I was waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come.
I know you really loved me.
But, you see, my hands were tied.
I know it must have hurt you,
It must have hurt your pride
To have to stand beneath my window
With your bugle and your drum,
And me I'm up there waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come.
Ah I don't believe you'd like it,
You wouldn't like it here.
There ain't no entertainment
And the judgements are severe.
The Maestro says it's Mozart
But it sounds like bubble gum
When you're waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come.
Waiting for the miracle
There's nothing left to do.
I haven't been this happy
Since the end of World War II.
Nothing left to do
When you know that you've been taken.
Nothing left to do
When you're begging for a crumb
Nothing left to do
When you've got to go on waiting
Waiting for the miracle to come.
I dreamed about you, baby.
It was just the other night.
Most of you was naked
Ah but some of you was light.
The sands of time were falling
From your fingers and your thumb,
And you were waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come
Ah baby, let's get married,
We've been alone too long.
Let's be alone together.
Let's see if we're that strong.
Yeah let's do something crazy,
Something absolutely wrong
While we're waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come.
Nothing left to do...
When you've fallen on the highway
And you're lying in the rain,
And they ask you how you're doing
Of course you'll say you can't complain --
If you're squeezed for information,
That's when you've got to play it dumb:
You just say you're out there waiting
For the miracle, for the miracle to come.

Waiting

Does the city sleep
Or does the city
Stay alive for her
Precious woman
Haunts my dreams every single night
The storm approaches
She's fit and strong
I am not
I am nothing but the ocean
Passing by in waves
Waiting for you
To find me

Waiting

Waiting for the time of my life
My life
My life
My life
Has never come
It was ended in
In the cruelest way
My life
My life
Has just begun
My life
Is just ending
My life
Is starting over
My life is life and death
My life is black and white

In dreams they're still waiting

This wasn't meant for you.
Leave my house.
The man didn't close the gate.
He just entered and didn't want to leave.
It was a wrong connection.
I didn't want you. And now everyone is here like they can be.
You're still here like you can be.
Frantically preserving what's mine.
You dissolve into a shadowy nothing. And you're gone. But I'm already upset.
And now grandma is telling me it's gunna cost me 1 million to fix my front deck. I tell her I think it's fine the way it is, she visibly, passively, dissagrees.

What Am I Waiting For?

Sitting alone.
Waiting.
What am I waiting for?
My heart is beating fast.
But at the same time, it feels like one hundred weights are on my chest.
Pushing down on me.
I'm breathing.
But all I can hear is the clock ticking.
I feel the urge to leave.
What am I waiting for?
I can't move.
My body feels full of sand.
My skin feels hot, but I'm freezing.
As I stare blankly at the wall, I think to myself.
What am I waiting for?

What am I waiting for?

While i waited
For a sign
I forgot
To look at you

I still wait
But now
I do it
Alone

Waiting, wanting, wishing

I'll wait,
Sitting in the dark,
Hoping for your light to shine
In the deepest corners of me.
I'll want,
Yearning for the touches of your hands,
Your lips, your body against my own.
I'll wish,
Dreaming you'll encompass the empty space
Of my mind and soul.
Waiting, wanting, wishing,
For you and only you.
So make
My anticipations, my wants, my wishes
Come true.

Still Waiting

I said let me in... so she did
I said let me lay down with you... so she did
I said let me kiss you... so she did
I said give me your heart so I can give you all my love...

waiting.
