Great Division

I am but a word on a background.
I am the stone smoldering in the ocean, giving away every part of me that is touched.
I am the open book with the old pitiful spine.
I am the dusty remains of something great.
I am but one nerve-ending, firing off along these lines, catching fire to the page.
I am the knot that holds.
I am the words that let go.
I am the ragged welcome mat of a mediocre cabin.
I am the pine tree that blocks the view.
I am but one and yet around every corner.
I am the serpent that speaks to your apple, whispering you away from the path.
I am the soft breeze that leaves branches wanting.
I am the bird whose song spells LOVE.
I am the problem.
I am the solution.
I am of great division.

A SOCIAL DIVISION

By: Cedric McClester

It's a divide
A social division
And we're gonna have to
Make a decision
What do we value more
People or profits
Greed is like heroin
It's hard to get off it

It's a divide
A social division
And the greed mongers
Are on a mission
They could care less
About you or I
If they had their way
We'd fall off or die

It's a divide
A social division
Will morality win
Over ambition
Or could that be
Mere hoping and wishin'
That things were different
You better listen - coz

It's a divide
A social division
And the greed mongers
Are on a mission
They could care less
About you or I
If they had their way
We'd fall off or die

You see it's a battle
For our heart and soul
So when will our values
Begin to take hold
Or am I mistaken
And all that is old
Because our warm hearts
Are suddenly cold

It's a divide
A social division
And the greed mongers
Are on a mission
They could care less
About you or I
If they had their way
We'd fall off or die

It's a divide
A social division
And we're gonna have to
Make a decision
What do we value more
People or profits
Greed is like heroin
It's hard to get off it

The Division

(wrote this a few years ago but it's even more relevant today)

Let's face it; we don't agree.
I don't like you, and you don't like me.
I think you're a fool and your facts are wrong.
You think I'm a commie plotting for a Red Dawn.
I think you're a bigot and big hypocrite.
You think I'm know-it-all who doesn't know shit.
I think you've never read a book by a scholar.
You think I never worked hard for a dollar.
I think your pundits make attacks ad hominem--
You think I use those big words so I can condescend.
I wish we could debate, but we'd have to stick to facts--
Facts get lost when someone always has to grind their axe.
Emotions tend to undermine a rational debate--
It's hard to listen and to learn when what you like to do is hate.

Division

A note on the kitchen table
Was all that she gave him
Not a look
Or even a sound
Nothing left on this battleground
He tries to pick up his life off the floor
Will he be miserable forevermore
He moves on, or at least pretends to
He has no one, not a friend to vent to
He soon forgets her voice
He forgets her laugh
Its all more pain in the past
Division fell upon him
To pursue her or pursue another
No matter what he'll always wonder
"what if", his greatest blunder

Division

What happens when two minds of the same kin meet?
Separated at their time of creation
One cell which divided in two.
I am assured now that occurrences do not happen by chance,
They are calculated by the past, present and future, all one, moving to a cosmic dance.

Your presence planted itself, our roots wrapped.
Mind expansion is your motto,
So I dilate mine a little bit greater,
Opening eyes and ears to ideas far from the comfortable temperatures of the equator.

We are electrons revolving the same nucleus,
Bouncing off of each other, creating energy, generating heat.
Our being never ceases to exist;
We are the beginning, middle and end of everything, packaged in an envelope and sealed with a kiss.

Synchronicity synthesizes us,
Even eons ago when the moving parts of the machine were invisible to our eyes,
We possessed the longing of two water droplets to merge, a natural attraction of two like things,
Sensed through emotions and vibrations which have always connected us to the same bird's wings.

Forever indebted to the universe
For it brought me to your doorstep when I thought there was nothing left-
It looked back at me and said,
"You will not be alone when you leave this world and traverse,
You will be blessed. "
